Today in class we finished up with our film promotions for An Old Man With Enormous Wings, these included some twisty plot turns, lions hidden in sheeps' clothing and some smoooth jazz. All in all, it was a pretty well rounded day. After all the groups finished presenting their ideas, Mr. Masson (El headhauncho) recounted to us the story of "Bert is Evil", although it was hilarious I'm just glad that it didn't have anything to do with Cookie Monster (me love him). Ahem, anyways after Berty, we were allowed to work for some time on our "Coat of Arms" project (which is due this Friday or maybe it was next Monday). We all got straight to work chopping up old magizines, needless to say. So there you go, our day in a nutshell. See you tomorrow!

Today was another wonderful day in Media and Literature land. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the animals frolicked all about. There was also the beautiful shine from the new bonsai pot (Arigato), which is a delightful clementine orange. In the actual work sector we commenced viewing the Shawshank Redemption, and discussed actors, scenes, the basic ideas/mediums of cinematography and the ever elusve Stephan King. This movie has it all (basically I'm already infatuated with it), I mean it has that guy from Bull Durham (Tim Robbins) AND Morgan Freeman. What else do you do you need in life? It was definitely a learning experiance day. What's the most important lesson from today? Don't Drop The Soap!

Class today consisted of more watching of the Shawshanks Redemption. We are about half way through but have lots more to do. Masson was elated that the Yearbook Assembly didn't run into class, as was I. The plot is thickening now, so much so that a united groan was let out when the bell rang today. Another thing to note is that the Coat of Arms project is due next Monday (9/22/08) please continue or begin working on this project as El headhauncho wishes to use them as examples for a Master's class. Let's hope they turn out well. Until Tomorrow!

Since yesterdays log wasn't riveting enough for some people I've decided to spice things up. To help me do this I have kidnapped Jackie Chan and Pam Anderson. Lets get the fun started. *Rips off ducktape and other binding agents* Now while I describe todays events, Mr. Chan here is going to do a series of jumpy/kicky thingys and Pam will...um do things that Pam does I suppose. Ahem, today *interupted by Dragon Fists* we continued watching the awesome movie *interupted again by Pam tripping over a walrus* ....The Shawshanks Redemption. As we continued to regard this enticing film we were asked by El Headhauncho to look for how the makers showed the passing of time. In the plot department there were some depressing events, Brooks commited sucide after being released and Andy just got a month in the hole. The illegal money making of the Warden is sure to climax soon so make sure you're in class tomorrow. Wow... you know its been kind've quiet, I wonder what those two are up too. *CRASH* *Flying Pam Anderson as Jackie Chan mistakes her for an evil ninja as she sits doing her nails* Ahah, maybe I should go separate those two. Until next time!

Oh noooo!!!! My final day doing log. *Sniff* I'm kind've sad, maybe no actually I'm really sad! But I will keep it together for the sake of this weeks log, thank goodness I have this box of Kleenex next to me. Because of the duration of this film, El Headhauncho decided to do some discussing before we watched today. He did this so that we could just finish it up on Monday without class ending with four minutes to go of the film. El Headhauncho's discussion centered around expanding the meaning of "a Classic." Upon completion of defining this term various groups were asked for examples of classics in films, literature, music and art. What we came up with is something along the lines of this:
Classic - Something that is as fantastically good as it was when it came out, stands the test of time, and something that uses themes fundemental to human existance/emotion.
In film: examples were The Sound of Music andThe Lion King
In Music: The Beatles, Elton John, and Led Zepplin
In Literature: Shakespeare, Hemingway, John Steinbeck and possibly Harry Potter (by J.K. Rowling)
In Art: The Mona Lisa (by DaVinci), Sistene Chapel Ceiling (by Michelangelo), and many others
There were many more examples and ideas given out, however due to my limited hearing and short attention span they may not be represented here. For this I am eternally sorry, but life moves on. In the Shawshanks Redemption we are nearly done, we left off with Andy having asked for a long piece of rope (possibly Suicide, maybe not ahh the suspense). Our day closed on the scene of Andy in his cell as they guards call for lights out. The lights die and only part of Andy's face is illuminated, causing sharp shadows to define the planes of his face. What is he thinking? What's going to happen next? Tune in next time! See you all on Monday, remember that the Coat of Arms project is due on Monday.

Thank you and Good Night!
